1995年6月に訪れた際のものです

英国を含めてヨーロッパでは6月が最も過ごしやすいシーズン
日照時間が長くそして雨が少なく暖かく人びとは活発に移動します

湖水地方へはレンタカーで行き20時30分頃(まだ明るい)に宿泊先を探してThe Linthwaite House Hotelにたまたま泊まりました

ところがこのHotel
なんと数々の賞を受賞した有名なホテルでした(写真③)

この日はたまたまキャンセルが出て一部屋空いていたのです

部屋数は30室にも満たない小ぢんまりと静かなホテル

翌朝美味しいイングリッシュ・ブレックファーストをテラスで摂ってビックリ

丘陵にあるホテルから湖水地方が一望
眼下にウィンダミア湖

ホテルが湖水地方に溶け込んでいます

庭は広大で敷地内にはなんとゴルフコースや釣りに最適な池もありました
